Achieving rollicking bar tunes and gentle hammock-nappers with equal ability, Light Poles and Pines is a real hoot of an album. A big band with a clean, catchy sound, Or, the Whale would make Melville proud. Assuming Melville liked rootsy, folksy sing-alongs and driving tunes, that is.
