Better on re-listening, this is a solid and tenacious effort. Ryan Davis fought hard to make the album, recording around the world for almost four years. And maybe therein lies the problem; these songs are pleasant yet too familiar. Hopefully the momentum of Stale Champagne will spawn some fresher material.
