What else we were talking about that week

As the sun began its descent over the mass of Sasquatch-goers, Against Me! lit into an exclamatory set of punk rock aimed at the devoted and newcomers alike. A heavy sing-along element hung to many of their songs, as well as a lot of keyed up excitement that shown through as fans shouted the lyrics back to a smiling version of the typically tough foursome. At this set, photographers were taking more pictures of the frenzied crowd than of the band; and it was completely understandable, considering how fiercely the audience was involved in this show.

Against Me! exude the sensibility of East Coast worker, in both their looks and their sound. The feeling they conjure is that of a group fresh off a finished shift at a New Jersey factory; the types that see beer and whiskey as the best end to their day. It seems this familiarity makes for a fine affiliation between them and their fans, and I couldn't help but be attracted to it, as well. It doesn’t hurt the group plays music at wall-breaking decibel levels, and that they deliver it with a raw and concise intensity that makes you feel like you know exactly what they’re talking about, even if you can’t even hear the lyrics. There is nothing false, or staged, about Against Me!, and their delivery of relatable punk rock is highly commendable.
