There’s nothing quite like traveling from New York to Austin only to discover a band from your own backyard. Aunt Martha’s folky blend of rock was inescapable on Friday afternoon upstairs at Maggie Mae’s. Streaming sunlight mixed with guitar and squeezebox, as frontman Tim Noyes seemingly familiar vocals told stories to the gathered crowd. Taco in one hand, camera in the other; this is the life.
