[Our fearless team, Nicci Boots and Ian McNeil spent three days listening to an obscene amount of fantastic music above the stunning Columbia River Gorge in George, Washington. Check out all our coverage here, over 30 sets from a who's who list of indie music.]
Broken Social Scene is another band I’ve always wanted to devote more time to, and it kind of blows my mind that it took this long before I got to tune in to their stuff. BSS music most certainly exudes a certain kind of cool, one that’s tough to define. I found myself starting to resist it at first, but it quickly turned into a contagious and mesmerizing groove. Midway through the set, a horn player from The National and a trumpet player from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros joined the group, and they were a picture perfect addition to the sound. And any band that writes a song called Texico Bitches is a-okay with me.
