The Lightning in a Bottle festival kicked off nearly a decade on the scene last Friday with the help of acts like Emancipator, NastyNasty, Dub Kirtan Allstars (David Starfire and FreQ Nasty), and Lucent Dossier Experience. Legendary house DJ, Nick Warren made great use of the Woogie stage's set of Funktion Ones toward the end of the night, a sound system so fierce that I didn't get much sleep for the rest of my stay in Oak Canyon Ranch. And while my photos can't convey the power of sound coming off those stages, they will give you a glimpse into some of the beautiful people, sights, and artists I encountered on day one of this fantastic event.
