Bear in Heaven

Surprise. Complete and utter surprise is how I felt after seeing of the first song of the Bear in Heaven set last night. A great new album doesn't automatically translate into a live show worth waking people up out of their work night slumbers to go off about. We want to find things like that, but often we just get a performance that merits the so-so hand gesture we reserve for unremarkable things. Well get ready to disturb some REM cycles; this is a band that has elevated themselves to the must see list. You will dance. And I promise you will laugh along with lead singer Jon Philpot's jokes (watch out, they come fast) and exaggerated body movements. The pieces are aligned and fun can be had. You just have to join in.
