When Simon split from Garfunkel, he found new dynamism. Despite a generous nod in Paul’s direction, Alexander doesn’t find quite the same solo muse. The album is enjoyable – some tunes are quite lovely indeed – but it’s less a scenery change and more Alex Ebert’s slightly different perspective on Edward Sharpe.
