This album feels like an old friend; for fans its songs have been worked out on tour, while the casual listener is easily welcomed through Berninger’s syncopated lyric. Lush horns and strings mark a matured instrumentation, yet it lacks the unbridled rage of “Mr. November.” Enjoy its beautiful, anthemic existentialism.
