Despite good genes, Gray Waves is a surprisingly unadventurous recombinant of 90s Sonic Youth, Arcade Fire and The Bends era Radiohead. Helical feedback tends to flatten the resonance of the guitar work and vocals are frequently buried behind tinny distortion. You’re not seeing double, but you’ve heard this all before.
