Art Brut

Art Brut's most recent contribution to off-brand punk Brilliant! Tragic! has been out over a week now, and the band is still reeling with projects and plans in support of its release. Aside from plotting a primarily East coast tour of North America, they've announced that a 28-page comic, with all of the material based on their latest album, is going to the publishers. Headed by frontman Eddie Argos, the comic will have several contributors, including Akira The Don, Bryan Lee O'Malley of Scott Pilgrim fame and his lovely wife Hope Larson, Jamie Mckelvie, Jamie S, Rich, Jeffery Brown, Jeff Lemire, Jeffery Lewis, Marc Ellerby, Mr. Solo, Sian Superman and Patrick McQuade. Eddie Argos offered his thoughts on initiating and the results of the multi-talented project:

When we first had the idea of creating an Art Brut comic, I compiled a list of all my favourite artists and then handed the list to our manager (as I am far too shy to approach those people). I thought only one or two would say yes. I was completely blown away when they all did and then flattered they would take the time to create something for us. As I had chosen all my favourite artists and writers for the project I was expecting to be blown away by every new submission, it went beyond even that though. I love what has been created and I recommend that you go out and collect everything by everyone who has contributed to this comic.
