Ash Black Buffalo

If you've finally got some downtime after the holiday and you're an independent film fan who loves stranger-than-fiction tales of real life people and you're someone who also appreciates a when a soundtrack adds to a film instead of being a total after thought put together by marketing planners, then have I got something for you to put in your Netflix queue: Marwencol.

Ash Black Buffalo (the solo project of Jay Clarke, keyboardist for Dolorean, Holy Sons and Grails) has put a wonderfully bizarre soundtrack to a wonderfully bizarre movie. One of the finer combinations of film making and scoring since Jim Jarmusch's collaboration with Neil Young on Johnny Depp's Dead Man.

A little more back info:
"Throughout the past five years that Ash Black Bufflo worked on Andasol, there was also an ongoing collaboration with director Jeff Malmberg who was shooting the documentary Marwencol, about artist Mark Hogancamp. In 2010 the film went on to sweep the film festival circuit winning awards at South by Southwest in Austin, Seattle International Film Festival, Hot Docs in Toronto, Comic Con, Boston Independent Film Festival, and the Cleveland International Film Festival among many others. In the Fall of 2010 the film will see a theater release in both the United States and Canada.
