Maximum Balloon

After wrapping up a solo album as Maximum Balloon, playing and producing for TV On the Radio and producing for Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Foals (I know, I know, stop name dropping already), Dave Sitek has moved on to use his creative energies writing and playing bass for Jane's Addiction's fourth album.

Uh, what?

As I smooth the furrowed brows from my expression, check out further details from the press release declaring so:

The band-who wrote the rule book for alternative music and culture through a combination of genre-defying classic songs and a cinematic live experience--is recording their fourth studio album in Los Angeles, tentatively scheduled for a summer of 2011 release on Capitol Records.
"Dave, Steve and I are fully immersed in the process of making modern music," says Perry Farrell. "It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential."

What's even more fantastic is the clever pun the Village Voice has taken on this news. What other ludicrous band combinations can we make? Sufjan Stevens Joins Das Racist! Katy Perry Joins Animal Collective! Joanna Newsom Joins the Black-Eyed Peas!

I'll stop cracking up now. In case you missed out on Dave's solo work, hear "Groove Me" above and snag below as a tasty tester.
