The Flaming Lips

Listen. I saw The Flaming Lips last month, heard some of the new songs and am fully convinced that their new album, Embryonic is going to be a fantastic record. It felt so alive and vibrant at the show with a twist of "we are just having fun here." So, believe that I feel excited by the following news from Spinner.

The Flaming Lips' double trip fest, 'Embryonic,' is one of the fall's most hotly anticipated albums and none other than Stephen Colbert has gone the distance in securing its first listen. The Lips will be the first artist to provide their full record for streaming via Colbertnation.com after they appear on Wednesday's episode of the 'The Colbert Report.' The stream will be up in its entirety through Monday, Sept. 21.

How awesome is that! Is Stephen Colbert trying to be my friend? Seriously, because you had me at bears. "Hey Colin, what would you think if I have Wilco on the show, sing Michael Jackson covers with John Legend, play Christmas with Costello and stream the new Flaming Lips disc?" says the fake Stephen Colbert from my mind. And to that, I can only put my hand out and say, "Put 'er there, buddy."
