We often hit a point where we no longer relate to age. Sometimes it's in high school, when you're ready to expand to your full potential and abandon the limitations that age can use to bind. Sometimes it's when the people you see around you no longer correlate to a system, where they can be anywhere between 25 and 45. Sometimes it's when you've acquired so many years that another five or so would make no difference. Sometimes . . . sometimes it's when you're in love.
The Raveonettes latest single, "Forget That We're Young," demonstrates that deserted island feeling you can get when the person you're with seems flawless and without bounds, like light emanating from a distance. You get close to it and it surrounds you, like the sound of the distorted guitar melody carrying effeminate vocals through seamless verses. It's a difficult emotion to encapsulate, but they seem to do a decent job in the four minutes you can hear above and snag for keeps below. While you're hearing it you can also scope out Raven in the Grave's tracklisting and tour dates below. The album will be out April 5 via Vice.
