One week before Washed Out's debut LP Within and Without drops, Weird World will be releasing limited 12" colored vinyls featuring the album's first single with a couple remixes to boot. We've already had some time to absorb "Eyes Be Closed" in its original version, and now we get a peek at what the contributors have crafted as well.
Above there's Grimes' take on the vast and nostalgic ode to chill, which preserves the original not only in length but also in essence. Folding in female vocals and extenuating the breathy notes, Grimes makes "Eyes Be Closed" into an atmospheric experience that lacks definition until Washed Out reemerges from the fog. Conversely, Lovelock brightens the more concise notes while also lengthening the track an extra two minutes, taking that time to slow down and celebrate the original's melodies. Lovelock's version can be streamed below, thanks to YouTube.
