Methodically placed dissonance creates a danceable pattern in the first single off Blues Songs, the upcoming sophomore LP from Hercules and Love Affair. Demure in the verses, the chorus of "My House" brightens the mood of the heavy androgynous vocals while also keeping with the junky disco rhythm. Surprisingly, skat punctuates the ending that, after vocal sound effects cease, fades into silence . . . or just opens the door for a DJ to feed in another track. Either way, it's made to be heard loud with a drink in your hand, so just imagine that sort of scenery as you play it above and grab it for keeps below.
