It started nearly two years ago, when Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, Charles Hayward from This Heat, John Coxon from Spring Heel Jack/Spiritualized and Pat Thomas got together and recorded a completely improvised album under the moniker About Group. Now they have news that they have a sophomore release made in a similar fashion due April 26.
Start and Complete was started and completed in one day at Abbey Road with nothing but the shell of few songs conjured up by Alexis. He wrote these songs over the course of two years but didn't want to share them with the other bandmates so “no one band member would know the songs well enough to have specific parts, or be prevented from playing something like the first ideas that came into their head.” You can hear a preview of their track "You're No Good" via YouTube below. Directly following that is the tracklisting for the album made in a day. Can you tell I'm impressed by that?
