Layering various loops of Mos Def's voice over a slick and sultry hip-hop beat, Blaqstarr introduces us to a first glimpse into his upcoming mixtape, Blaqstarr – The Mixtape. Yeah, the title's a little redundant, but so far he's making up for it with "Kiss Me On My Lips," which is a little abrupt in organization but rich in detail. It takes a few well-appreciated listens to catch all of the petite nuances, such as Mos Def crooning in auto-tune then spitting, "I shine, I grind, I flash, I blow. Ice cold, I'm hot, I'm fresh, I know."
Blaqstarr – The Mixtape will also feature appearances from M.I.A., Switch, Diplo, Rye Rye, Steve Aoki and Shanell. Catch it on April 12 on his website.
