Major Lazer take a bad song and make it a good one: remixing Beyonce's "Halo" (mp3)

Elefant Man replaces 'Yonce

Major Lazer

The following message came out of Diplo’s twitter account last night, in the middle of the Grammy’s:

“SERIOUSLY CAN’T BELIEVE beyonce won a GraNNY when My VErSiOn of HaLo with elefant man + @majorlazer is SoOO MUCH BETTER!”

At the end of the message was a link to the song, which I have deleted, since I’m saving you some time and putting the song up here. And he was right about a few things. 1) This song is way better than Beyonce’s version. It’s fun instead of self-important, it’s alive instead of melodramatic, and it’s just, well, better. 2) The Grammys suck and should be called the Grannys. There is nothing more out of touch with what is really going on in the music world than the Grammys. Also, can somebody please tell me why anyone would want to win one of those things? It’s not like people are buying albums anymore, so you can’t make the sales bump argument. Why then? It’s not like the fans are rallying behind the Grammys either. I don't get it unless artists really care what a bunch of old has-beens have concluded after a massive group-think/politic session. Waste of time. Won’t watch it.

Anyway, now that you’ve made it through the rant portion of our ride, go check out the song.
