No, that is not a screenshot of Kid of 88's Facebook. It's a screenshot of their MYSPACE. That's right, click the link because I know you don't believe me. And while you're there, check out that not only has the site's HTML been completely overwritten, but there's also only two links: one for a free download and one to the band's Facebook.
Now, I used to write about social media in the music industry for a short stint, so I've seen a couple reports on how Myspace has started to suck balls when it comes to disseminating music and music news. Blogs, Facebook and Twitter have diminished Myspace's importance for established and popular bands, leaving it a wasteland of underground and unsigned artists waiting to get a break or a reason to afford giving their music away for free. So, aside from this re-design being hilarious, it makes a valid point about the relevance of certain social media technologies in today's music.
/end nerd rant.
Of course, I know you probably don't give a second thought to that, so listen to the poppy download off of Sugarpills, "Everybody Knows," and get it here below. Kids of 88 have three dates coming up in New York too, so if you're around check them out:
10.19: New York, NY @ Le Poisson Rouge
10.20: New York, NY @ The Delancey
10.22: Brooklyn, NY @ Trash Bar
