The Thermals had a busy 2009. They released their fourth LP, made the switch from Sub Pop to Kill Rock Stars, and toured extensively (five tours in the US, three in Europe and one in China). Makes you feel pretty lazy in comparison right? Well, now the band is upping the ante on things. In addition to all of that other stuff they were running around doing, The Thermals managed to write and record yet another full length album, Personal Life, which is due out September 7 from Kill Rock Stars.
With the band teaming up once again with producer Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie), Personal Life is set to be a continuation of the band's high-energy, punk infused brand of rock we've all come to love so much, with an added darkness thrown into the mix.
The first single off the album, "I Don't Believe You," will be released by Kill Rock Stars August 10. The band has slowed down on touring a bit for now, but will be making a few choice appearances around the country leading up to the release of their album. Portlanders take note: Their show at Musicfest NW on September 9 is their CD release show. Be there or be incredibly sorry for the rest of time.
