Mike Hadreas sings of his face melting away in a dream, and with the airy, distant vocals and highly emotive piano, you can almost ignore the fact that in dreams, you can literally feel your flesh dissolving, seeing it fall in loose gobs into your hands. Granted, I can't expect people to have dreams as vivid and lucid as mine – trust me, it's not as fun as it sounds – and Perfume Genius is more than likely speaking of the cross-dissolve of a movie scene change. Either way, those images pull through the heart strings he has made his piano with in the bonus track "Dreeem" off Learning's limited edition release.
Due December 7 via Matador, the special re-release will have a new slipcover with a download coupon for three new tracks: "Dreeem," "Your Drum" and "Divine Faxes." You can hear "Dreeem" above and grab it for keeps below, then decide if the image of melting faces is soothing, or grotesquely alarming.
