This is from the world of yesterday, as in this got posted everywhere else yesterday (I was gone, so sue me) and it's a cover of song from '66, which also falls under a wide categorization of the word yesterday. The artist covered is Bob Dylan. The artist covering is Phoenix. I know, that pairing interests me too. But then again, I love old Dylan so much that you could say, "Hey Colin, have you heard that Lady Gaga cover of 'It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)'?" and I would rush to that song, even though I can't stand her.
You don't have to worry about a poor performance here. Phoenix takes "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" into their arms and rock it to sleep, telling it sweet nothings until its eyes shut. What you won't get here is the 11+ mins that Dylan devoted to it. They clock in under 5, but what they do within that span of time is something that is quite enjoyable, plus every once in awhile it's good to have someone hold up a great Dylan song that most people don't cover and shuffle it back up to the top of your stack. Check it out for yourself and if you don't like it, I'll eat my hat.
