Do you love rap, hip-hop, house and soul? Have you been pining for a chance to see Lauryn Hill in something other than a worn copy of Sister Act 2? Well, then prepare to get soul'd out! Yes, the 2011 Soul'd Out Festival is returning for a second year, armed to the teeth with almost two dozen acts who will pack venues around the city of Portland from April 7-17!
And now onto the part you care about...the artist list. Performers include:
Ms. Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ice Cube, Ellis Marsalis, Black Joe Lewis, Raphael Saadiq, Donald Harrison, Afro Cuban All Stars, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Rusko, Francis & the Lights, The Motet, Louis Hayes, Trentemoller, Blackalicious, Holy Ghost!, Das Racist, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and Prezident Brown.
Pretty baller, and for about $250 you can fill almost two weeks with fabulous music. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (March 4) on TicketsWest, where you can buy tickets for individual shows or the entire festival. Also check out the schedule of shows and venues at the Soul'd Out Festival's website. Also, expect massive amounts of coverage from us in April, as we'll be out there in force, participating and reporting.
