While the oppressive summer heat does not deter some of us at melophobe from catching live music (see Chris Barth's Bonnaroo coverage here), for others of us, the thought of sweating it out in a sea of humanity is torture. This Sunday, we'll be seeking refuge at the cave-like sit-down venue Berklee Performance Center to see critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter. The multiple Grammy-winning folk artist is promoting her twelfth release The Age of Miracles, and we're thrilled to see how these beautifully crafted pieces sound live.
Joining Carpenter is smoky voiced singer Madeleine Peyroux. A quick listen brings comparisons to Edith Piaf and Billie Holiday, so we're likewise eager for a live introduction to her music.
An Evening with Mary Chapin Carpenter and Madeleine Peyroux, Sunday, June 27
Berklee Performance Center
136 Massachusetts Ave., Boston
Tickets may be purchased at the Berklee box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets; by phone at 800.745.3000 or online at ticketmaster.com.
