Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks

Anyone who loves Pavement will not be disappointed with its frontman's latest single as Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Not only does it preserve that 90s-alternative feel and ramble on over distortion, "Senator" also carries a tinge of political commentary with a chorus that spits, "I know what the senator wants. What the senator wants is a blow job." Way to tell it like it is, Malkmus.

"Senator" is the first single off their Beck-produced new record, Mirror Traffic, which is due via Matador on August 23. Malkmus stated on his website that, "68% of the tracking, vocals included, took place on one day, a first for me. We pretty much left it all out there.” That's a pretty bold move, or he was just on a roll! I'll take either as an explanation. Hear their one-day track above and check out their new album's track list below.
