The Flaming Lips

Well, what can you expect from a band that makes posters from the frontman's blood? Anything, really! So it comes as a treat that The Flaming Lips are coming out with a song every month of this glorious 2011, and they are doing it on a different medium each time. But before that happens, there are plenty other juicy tidbits of news concerning The Lips:

First, Wayne Coyne posted to his Twitter a video of him jamming out with Neon Indian. You can't see anyone but Coyne and a table in it, but his recent interview with Spin confirms that he and the chillwave aficionado are planning on making two to three tracks together, and he hopes they'll be released as soon as possible. After that, plans move on to possible collabs with Deerhoof and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Fingers crossed!

Next, The Flaming Lips box set chronicling years 1992 to 2002 – that's a decade in case you hadn't figured it out – is coming together and will feature five of their albums. Heady Nuggs has a potential release date of April 16, also known as Record Store Day.

Lastly, their album Zaireeka is going to be reissued. In the spirit of the original release, which was on four different CDs that you were instructed to play at once, Zaireeka will come out on smart phones. Same principal though: you have to play four smart phones at once in order to get the full effect. Not sure you understand? Wayne and Steven demonstrate in a bathtub below:
