Most albums take themselves too seriously, as if they are wholly unaware that every work isn't a transcendent statement for art. But then there are records like Andrew W.K.'s I Get Wet, which spread lava like Vesuvius, and don't pretend for a second that they are about anything other than a good time. Remember that one? Don't pretend like you weren't out there acting an ass with your friends to "Party Hard" when that beast dropped. You were, and so was I. That song was everywhere, and thankfully what waited in the rest of "I Get Wet" was a mix of complementary songs built to carry that feeling from the beginning of your evening to the red-eyed morning after. No pretense, just fun.
Now to celebrate I Get Wet's10 anniversary, Andrew is taking it out on the road and playing it all the way through. And on Monday, that tour comes to Portland's Wonder Ballroom (tix here). From what I've heard, the Portland show from the first "I Get Wet" tour was absolutely wild, which means, more debauchery will probably cling to this one as well.
We'll be there. You should come too. Portland is about to get stirred up something crazy, and it's time for hair to fly.
