Hiatus is such a vague word. There is no connotation of a length of time in "hiatus." The varying lengths of breaks bands have taken while using that word has destroyed that: some span weeks, others decades. Wolf Parade is about to launch themselves into that ambiguity, declaring Friday that they will be not be playing shows "for a long time." What does a long time even mean?!
Either way, after a handful of shows in 2011, the only new material we'll be seeing from them will be in the form of Dan Boeckner's other musical project, Handsome Furs, who'll be releasing a new album in January.
If you're feeling a little teary-eyed, listen to "Ghost Pressure" above and either let that water flow or feel soothed in the fact that their music does, in fact, still exist.
And in case you missed it, here's their latest video for the track "Yulia." Sigh, every woman loves an astronaut.
