Alan Cohen Experience

Borrow It

My first thought was early 60's British pop complete with Indian influenced guitar and key rhythms. Continued listening, however, revealed no real consistent genre, instead almost spoken word delivery of silly playful lyrics in a comical fashion. Funky, melodic, orchestrated. Not exactly easy listening, but definitely interesting listening.

Reminds us of They Might Be Giants. Family Junction. A guy singing with distortion. Classic rock.

Bin It

Reading Alan Cohen's blog entries on his MySpace page engendered a completely irrational hatred of him, but several listens to his EP led me to be completely (and rationally) underwhelmed. The tracks are catchy, and tend to remind you of various songs by much better bands, but generally fall flat.

Reminds us of (A poor man's:) The White Stripes | Spoon | Van Morrison.
