Fifty-word reviews

the wild hunt

Buy It

The Wild Hunt won’t put an end to the persistent Dylan comparisons, but it’s brighter, more nimble, and more confident than its predecessor, Shallow Grave. Judging from the playful insouciance of his oblique, breezy lyrics, it doesn’t seem Kristian Matsson feels boxed in by much – a romp of an album.

There’s No Leaving Now

7.7 out of 10

There’s No Leaving Now exchanges the vibrant urgency and listing restlessness of recent releases for patience and permanence, polish and nuance. While rooted in familiar metaphors and the same buoyant acoustic guitar, the interpretation of those metaphors has shifted and the sound is noticeably fuller, featuring a richer backing instrumentation.
