As Chiddy Bang’s Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin stepped to the mic Sunday afternoon, he was sure to call out the irony of the duo’s 4:20pm start time. The hip-hop twosome then delivered an aptly chill set, with plenty of slow-paced melodic jams to match the cannabis hour.
“Mind Your Manners” was amped up a bit more than the rest, but the majority of the set felt pretty lackluster. Toward the end, Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege helped explain as he gazed up at the thousands of fans perched on the hill in front of him. “We’re perplexed by what we see here,” he admitted. Fair enough. It’s just a good thing their mellow vibes appeared suitable for the many washed out festival-goers, seen nodding their heads in agreement as Chiddy Bang rapped their afternoon away.
