What else we were talking about that week

Dan Deacon played in the crowd. Right in the middle of the crowd. That means I couldn't see him, because I got there a couple of minutes late. And I'm not complaining.

Armed with a table of electronic gadgets constantly being bumped into by the crowd, Deacon held his ground against the rush of fans, unleashing a wave of fast paced, electronic music. Now, it didn't matter if the actual music was your "thing," because the music played a bit of a secondary role. I'm not usually a fan of the music being put aside for the purposes of the "show," but for Dan Deacon, there was good reason.

Crowd interaction was the crux of his set. Acts included opening a giant circle in the crowd for dancing duels ("be sassy as fuck," said Deacon) and assigning various roles to different parts of the crowd ("You are the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park; you are the reaction Tom Hanks' mom has to finding a full grown man in her room in 'Big'").

Hands down the best part was when Deacon outlined the "London Bridge." Two people would meet hands to create a tunnel, two people would dance through the tunnel and continue forming more tunnel. This effect stretched out for quite some time, as the tunnel got larger and everyone in the crowd got a chance to participate. Refer to the photos to see JUST how happy people were passing through this tunnel. It was stunning.
