Although headliners Surfer Blood look and are young, Fake Problems just look it. Undoubtedly, they didn't sound juvenile with Chris Farren belting out some impressive, raspy vocals that definitely were the highlight of the set. However, this show lacked the normal flair that Fake Problems brings to their shows, sometimes including horn sections or strings. But such is CMJ - they probably had to be somewhere five minutes after playing, no time to load more into the van. Fake Problems hit it off well though, introducing some heavily Bright Eyes-influenced song lyrics and their Florida-tinged Bruce Springsteen sound.
