The stage, or other unforseen problems, may have hindered Francis and the Lights' ability to have their full set-up. Without their two backing percussionists, I wasn't sure what to expect of their show. Accompanied by sampled beats, Francis and the Lights didn't have the same visceral impact of the dual-drum setup, but they still kept their vibe. That vibe, however, is hard to describe. Coming onto the stage clad in black clothes and sunglasses, Francis and the Lights had the unfamiliar crowd not knowing what to expect. But when the dark, groovy 80's synth came in, accompanied by Francis Starlite's phenomenally white and adorable dancing, the crowd was treated to a breakless forty-five minute set that led to slightly more people exclaiming, "Wow, they were cool!" rather than, "When is Surfer Blood on?"
