Remember those two Swedish teens, who, a year and a half ago, blew you away with their in-the-woods cover of Fleet Foxes'"Tiger Mountain Peasant Song?" Well, that's First Aid Kit. I didn't make the connection at first; Johanna and Klara Soderburg looked noticeably older than in their breakout YouTube video. But when they hit their first harmony, the voices fell into place. First Aid Kit did play "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song," which was even more heartfelt and beautiful than I remembered. The rest of their set consisted of their own work, from their EP, Drunken Trees, and their brand new full length, The Big Black & the Blue. Nearly every song contained lovely harmonies and sparse instrumentation, highlighting storytelling lyrics that sounded a little too mature to be coming from the lips of 17-and-19-year olds. Nonetheless, even when dedicating a song about a neglected housewife leaving her husband to "all the married people," First Aid Kit was likable and oozed of potential. By the end of their set, I was thinking of them in a "they're going to be big" light rather than "that one band I saw on Youtube."
