Oh Land's show at Backstage Bar on Wednesday night was perhaps the prototypical CMJ set; the chanteuse played to a small group of devoted followers and a slightly larger group of interested newcomers. I was in the latter group, having only recently heard of Oh Land. I jetted over to catch the Danish singer's set and was pleasantly surprised. Although she may lack the sticky hooks to make a hit quite yet, Nanna Oland Fabricius has a great set of pipes and a charming disposition. Her set was aided by some cool visuals, most notably a chorus of singing faces (in time with the backing track) projected onto a number of balloons. Her dreamy tunes took the night to its finish quite nicely, and in the right hands she could do great things.
