What else we were talking about that week

[Our fearless team, Nicci Boots and Ian McNeil spent three days listening to an obscene amount of fantastic music above the stunning Columbia River Gorge in George, Washington. Check out all our coverage here, over 30 sets from a who's who list of indie music.]

While I’ve spent most of my life listening to mostly dirty rock ‘n’ roll, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for OK Go. Get Over It was one of my most listened to songs in college, in fact, because it was a fantastic beer-drinking anthem and a rallying cry for whenever you were feeling down about something stupid. Then there were the YouTube clips that about 99 percent of the world are now hip to, brilliant videos that remain some of the best ever made. The group might not make a brand of music that’s my usual cup o’ tea, but they’re also the kind of guys you can’t help but love.

Their performance at Sasquatch! was a touch disappointing, though, because, well, there were no treadmills with them. And their stage act felt less vibrant than what we fans have come to know them for. Sure, they all wore colorful suits, and the singer nailed a super cute dance throughout each song, but I guess it just wasn’t enough. It’s their own fault, though – if you’re going to consistently produce highly energized, big-time fun types of videos to accompany your songs, you’ve got to up the ante for your performances. And that’s all there is to it.
