On Saturday, assorted fans and Portlandia-er Fred Armisen gathered in a hot and muggy room on the east side of Portland to hear Sonic Youth frontman, Thurston Moore chase down some sonic voodoo. Lymay Iwasaki was also on hand to appreciate the moment and steal a few captures from around the venue's floor. His opinion of the set was that it was good, but lacking in real energy. He doesn't chock this up as a fault, but a natural consequence of the heat radiating around the room. "Uncomfortable" is the word he used. That said, he was a fan of the black & white film that Moore claims to have made, and thought that the sight of his silhouetted shadow blended perfectly with the sounds growing cozy around it. Go if you also want to see what Thurston and Beck hath wrought or if you just fancy the idea of catching long-haired troubadour, Kurt Vile opening up his heart before Thurston even sets that first foot before you.
