I'd heard exaggerated tales of local legend J. Geils' blues guitar chops. Turns out they weren't nearly exaggerated enough.
Currently performing with a who's-who of musicians, Geils pulls out all the tricks on jazz and blues songs ranging from original compositions to B.B. King to T Bone Walker. Some of those joining him on stage included guitarist Gerry Beaudoin and his son, vibraphone phenom Gerard Beaudoin III, guitarist / vocalist Doug Bell, saxophonist / pianist Fred Lipsius, vocalist Cassandre Mckinley, saxophonist Rich Lataille and trumpeter Doug Wolverton of Roomful of Blues. And I'd be remiss to not mention bassist Jesse Williams and drummer Mark Texiera who without fanfare provide the ground work for the others to bounce off of.
If you get a chance to see this group of immense talent take the stage near you, do yourself a favor and jump on in.
