What else we were talking about that week

I saw fans go wild all weekend, but their pre-Skrillex behavior was like that of a bunch of excited little kids at the circus. Almost everyone at the Banana Shack was amped up to oblivion while they waited for Skrillex to take the stage, and I didn’t really understand it until the DJ got his pumpin’ set going.

Churning out a pretty varied blend of remixed songs, heavy dubstep and squealing blasts, Skrillex made listenable even some seemingly bad pop music. At its murkiest, the flow was at its sexiest, and would get interrupted with shrieks of recorded dialogue. Fan love erupted when the DJ also announced he was playing from a brand new EP, set to be released on June 7th. One of these included a song he said he had just wrote a couple days before, and it was hot. It’s impressive Skrillex has been able to so quickly replicate the new music that had been stolen from him a few months ago, via two computers he had stored the songs on.

The set was all about sex, and hit its dirtiest with remixed tracks like Savage’s “Swing.” No two songs really had the same direction, but it was impressive in how well he kept them together. I completely take back any ill-judgment I might've had on the overzealous crowd prior to the show, because Skrillex did legitimately kill it up there.
