Perhaps to the advantage of The XX, I came into this show with rock bottom expectations. After hearing about the band's disappointing live show from Josh and countless others, I wasn't expecting much. The XX produced more than not much, putting on a sonically engaging, if sleepy, show. The songs from their self-titled debut, so reliant on tight production and crisp execution on record, are less tight in concert, but with a full crowd that stuck around The XX put on a captivating show. By the end of a molasses-coated hour I was ready for bed, without a doubt, but I was also glad I stayed up to see these kids.
