And it was on the third day, fatigue seemed to begin its descent upon all those reveling in their Sasquatch! glory. This failed to deter most artists, but exhaustion (and intoxication) was visible onstage at several shows. There was still plenty of excitement circulating the Gorge, however, particularly with pumped up sets at the Yeti Stage and dynamic performances at the Main Stage. This included the mesmerizing rhymes of Mad Rad, and the enticing psychedelia of The Flaming Lips – both performances were over-the-top, but not in a way anyone would argue with.
I had to skip out on most of Das Racist’s set to catch The Flaming Lips, and while I was sad to miss it, I’ve heard it might not have been their best. So I’m pretty sure I made the right choice. Herein lies the only problem with the lovely Sasquatch! Festival: so many terrific bands! So little time! Plenty of great shows end up getting missed at jam-packed festivals such as this, but making up for it are those completely surprising performances by groups you knew nothing about. Same goes for those absolutely rewarding ones by groups you’ve known forever. That’s why I thank Sasquatch! for compiling such a terrific group of knowns and unknowns each year.
