It's not secret that I am completely in love with Warpaint. I searched them out three times at SXSW alone, and have kept tabs on their tour dates religiously over the past two months. There's just something awesome about this band that I can't quite pinpoint - perhaps it's the dual vocalists, perhaps it's the girl rock thing. Or perhaps it's just that this band completely shreds in concert. In the Troo Music Lounge they put together another dynamite set, pulling the plug on the lights and playing as loud as the amps would let them go. "Let's get psychedelic," said singer Emily Kokal as Warpaint began to play. It was a perfect descriptor for the set, a heady, hazy blanket of electric guitars and machine gun drums. Whoa.
