You know those post-apocalyptic dance parties they show in movies? Like in The Matrix, where everyone is sweating, dancing, and listening to a DJ that looks like Rob Zombie? That's exactly what Friday night's Bassnectar show was like. The catchiest DJ this side of Girl Talk, Bassnectar spun tunes that set a high bar for dance sets for the week (one that was only surpassed by Deadmau5's five hour set that lasted past dawn).
"If you're a little person and you're standing next to a big person," shouted Bassnectar into the microphone, "get on that person's shoulders. We're gonna take this party to the roof!" To the roof it went, glow sticks raining down on fans in the late night Bonnaroo tradition. It felt like the end of the world, and the only thing left to do was dance.
