My parents used to let me watch MTV when I was baby for all the flashing colors - yeah, I'm a youngster - and if they knew that Beastie Boys was then blowing up the screen with ladies in leather, Spanish Fly in the punch and geeks getting seven minutes of heaven in the bathroom, I bet they would've re-evaluated what shows should be stimulating my brain.
However, 20 some years later, here I am, a perfectly normal human being (ha!), and "Fight For Your Right" gets a A-list celebrity tribute in a short film directed by Beastie's MCA. "Fight For Your Right Revisited" will have appearances from Jack Black, John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell and, as you might be able to tell from the photo above, Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride will play the Beastie Boys.
The 2011 Sundance Festival attendees will be the first to see what happened after the party ended in the iconic music video. Did the nerds' parents shit a cow? Did one of the hussies at the party get pregnant? Did aliens land outside the house and abduct the rappers to give them superhuman powers?
Who knows. But in the meantime, you can hear two remixes Mike D put out of Lykke Li's "Get Some" and Matt & Kim's "Cameras." Both have similar effects, and feel like they have exploded from outer space. Maybe my last assumption isn't so far-fetched after all . . .
"Get Some"
"Cameras"
And of course, I gotta remind you all of the awesomeness that is the O.G. "Fight For Your Right" music video:
