Well Damon Albarn, you've done it. You've sparked the latest fad in album production: composing on the iPad. Now here I thought it was going to be The Flaming Lips with their multiple smart phone song playback or Jack White's record-within-a-record. Ha! You showed 'em. Now you've got Bjork on your side with the imminent release of her seventh album, Biophilia, which is stated to be partially composed on the Apple-produced reader.
Bjork stated that her latest is a “multi-media project encompassing music, apps, internet, installations and live shows,” and will be debuting said project during a three-week stint at Campfield Market Hall in Manchester in six shows. Expect strange instruments to accompany her, such as a digital pipe organ, a musical and gravitationally-influenced pendulum, and a pin barrel harp. Here's to hoping those of us stateside will be able to witness this at least through YouTube.
There's no release date yet, but Biophilia is anticipated later this year.
