Though it's no longer dominating headlines, the economy is still lurking like a beast waiting to strike with vengeance or be appeased. Some industries still have issues with keeping on the work force needed to keep a community fully engaged, but music still thrives and creates an optimistic presence. Rubblebucket drew from that feel-good vibe to write "Worker," which is the latest single from the Brooklyn group's forthcoming record, Omega La La.
"A man at a bar in Michigan told me whenever he went to Detroit his eyes would well up with tears," Alex Toth, trumpet player, told Spinner. "We play in all of these beautiful cities across America that have just been devastated by failed industry. In the Midwest especially folks have so much damn heart and gratitude despite the depressed economy. This song is about survival and perseverance and was inspired by my experiences there."
If you're part of that 9.1 percent that's without a job in the States, hopefully you'll get some motivation from the light-hearted guitar riffs and boasting horns, and for those of you lucky to be working, keep your spirit alive as you sing along.
Rubblebucket is on tour now in support of Omega La La's release on June 21. Check out a list of dates below.
