Cut Copy

I'm sure a lot of you don't know what a zonoscope is. I sure as hell don't, but in February I look forward to Cut Copy giving me an idea of their interpretation in their first album in two years by that very name: Zonoscope. Spin got the word on it from band member Tim Hoey, who gives us an idea on the new sound that has developed around their new album art of skyscrapers being drenched in a massive waterfall:

"We certainly are using all sorts of electronic instruments, more synthesizers, computers, all of that, but contrasted with more organic sounds, more organic percussion," says Hoey. "Since [frontman] Dan [Whitford] came across the image a few months ago, he's stuck with it, and thought that it summed up what we wanted to get across."

This summer Cut Copy put out "Where I'm Going," but this version has been revised for the actual album. Nevertheless, listen above for an idea on where they may be heading, and snag it below for keeps. Also, see a short black and white documentary on the new album at Spin.
